Laila's Story: Allah, can You Hear me?

Crashing under the weight of her mental health, fearing the judgement of the community, Laila has convinced herself she has nowhere to turn except Allah. Years of prayer yet her mental state continued to decline, Laila began to wonder "Can Allah hear me...?"

A Favourite Listen

In this episode we get uncomfy, we target the realities of mental health in the Muslim community through Laila's story. As a young Muslimah raised in the West, Laila navigates her love for Islam, her academics, and all her other responsibilities. To the world, Laila had it all worked out, but to Laila she was crumbling beneath the weight of her mental health. Episodes of anxiety and depression overtook her, she felt she had nowhere to turn, she began to question Allah's love, the only source of hope in her life. How does Laila navigate it all? Is this a punishment from Allah? "Allah, can you hear me?"
